What a wonderful weekend with our Missionaries Chad and Crystal Gibbons. It is great to be a part of what God is doing in Ukraine. Continue to pray and ask the Lord what He wants to give through you to the Odessa Church as they start another church during this war. God is moving in powerful ways to help the people come to know him in this uncertain time. All you have to do is label your offering, “Odessa Project.”
It has finally arrived. This Sunday after the second service, we will be breaking ground for our new addition. I want to invite everyone for this brief time of praising the Lord for helping us to expand and accommodate some of our growth. This addition will include a Nursery, Classrooms, and a Children’s Check-In area. The playground will be placed right outside of the building which is on the East side of our Worship Center. More renovation will follow when this addition is completed. The renovation will include expansion of a toddler room, library, cry room, and a wider hallway leading to the new addition. We are in exciting days! In the book of Nehemiah, the Lord placed a burden on the heart of Nehemiah to rebuild Jerusalem. As they were preparing to build the walls, the Lord strengthened their hands to do this good work. Anytime you venture out to do the will of God, the enemy always shows up to try to distract your progress. These distractions sometimes show up in the form of a person. I realize that our battle is not against flesh and blood, but sometimes it feels like it. Look with me at Nehemiah’s response in the heat of the moment. Let’s look in on a quick scene. 19 But when Sanballat the Horonite and Tobiah the Ammonite servant and Geshem the Arab heard of it, they jeered at us and despised us and said, “What is this thing that you are doing? Are you rebelling against the king?” 20 Then I replied to them, “The God of heaven will make us prosper, and we his servants will arise and build, but you have no portion or right or claim in Jerusalem” Nehemiah 2:19-20. I love the fact that he totally relied on God for the success of the building. That is what we want to do as we enter into this first phase. Join me and pray for the Lord to build this building and use it for His glory. Unless the Lord builds the house, those who build it labor in vain. Unless the Lord watches over the city, the watchman stays awake in vain. Psalm 127:1 Joy in Jesus! Pastor Mike
