On Saturday, October 2, we will be calling people of faith in our City to converge in the center of town to confess our faith in God. We are in desperate need of the Lord to hear our cry for mercy. We are also in desperate need for the Church to come together. Too many times we let other things distract us from truly coming together. We are basically calling for the Lord to bring a revival.
“If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land” 2 Chronicles 7:14. Shortly following that verse it mentions how this revival is conditional. It is specifically talking to Solomon but I think we can put ourselves in place of Solomon. In verse 17 it says, “If you walk before me as David your father did, and do all I command, and observe my decrees and law, I will establish your royal throne…” Then in verse 18 it says, “But if you turn away and forsake the decrees and commands I have given you and go off to serve other gods and worship them, then I will uproot Israel from my land, which I have given them, and reject this temple I have consecrated for my Name. I will make it a byword and an object of ridicule among the peoples.” I can’t help but think of how people approach worship in a half-hazard kind of way. Could it be that we have forsaken our first love? We have allowed other things to take first place in our life? It’s time to take heed and realize that the things we are experiencing are a self fulfilling prophecy pronounced by the way we have been living. It’s time to put aside all other gods and put the Almighty God back in first place. As we do I believe we will see people begin to look at our churches differently and not be critically looked at. We should be seen as a place where prayer is a priority, the lost are not marginalized, and the name of the Lord is not only preached but lived in power through the Holy Spirit. Put Saturday, October 2 at 10am on your calendar now, before something else gets put on that day. It’s for the whole family. Let’s walk before the Lord and our community as one in Christ and pray for our Nation to change, repent, and turn toward the Lord. Another date I would like for you to write down is this Sunday at 4:30pm. It will be at the Morse house located in McComb where we will have a baptism and a picnic. A tent, a pond, good food, and great company will be the order of the day. Plan to be there because another result of our openness for revival is wanting to spend time together. Joy in Jesus! Pastor Mike
