This morning in our prayer time at the church, we were talking about the disappointment with the vote yesterday. Both issues passed concerning abortion and marijuana. The good news is that we live in a county that is pro-life. The bad news is that we live in a state that is not. I personally think about all the false advertising that was prevalent and realized again how some good people can be deceived. But our God is still active in the chaos. In the midst of a State that allows abortions to take place, I still carry the conviction of life and have a new urgency to promote that God is in control.
I read Psalm 36 which is concerning human wickedness and God’s love. David points to two reasons why the wicked person turns to ungodliness. There is no thought of God, and they have a flattering opinion of themselves. In essence, they have no view of God and are always thinking of themselves. David reminds us that in the midst of wickedness, we meditate on God because nothing in the spirit realm has changed. God is still faithful to us in the midst of wrongdoing. God’s love is priceless. You cannot put a number on it. When we look to God as our source then we will experience the abundance of his provision and find satisfaction. No matter the outcome, God is still in control. This only reminds us that we are living in a mission field. People are hopelessly lost, and we have words of life to give them. We must work together to see the name of Jesus raised, sought after, and proclaimed to this city and beyond. Be encouraged today by God’s Word. Psalm 36:5-12 5 Your steadfast love, O Lord, extends to the heavens, your faithfulness to the clouds. 6 Your righteousness is like the mountains of God; your judgments are like the great deep; man and beast you save, O Lord. 7 How precious is your steadfast love, O God! The children of mankind take refuge in the shadow of your wings. 8 They feast on the abundance of your house, and you give them drink from the river of your delights. 9 For with you is the fountain of life; in your light do we see light. 10 Oh, continue your steadfast love to those who know you, and your righteousness to the upright of heart! 11 Let not the foot of arrogance come upon me, nor the hand of the wicked drive me away. 12 There the evildoers lie fallen; they are thrust down, unable to rise. Just remember, this vote may have made abortion legal up to 40 months but being legal does not make it right. God is for life from conception and this only shows us what obstacles are before us. I pray for these obstacles to become stepping stones of God’s grace. In the midst of evil, God still moves. Keep your eyes and your faith on God and His provision. May God give you a peace that will help you to walk in confidence of His provision in this day the Lord has made. Joy in Jesus! Pastor Mike Hope to see everyone at the Harvest Dinner on Sunday night. We have lots to celebrate!
